Meet Chief Deputy Brian Henderson

Chief Deputy Brian Henderson, born and raised in Volusia County, is a career law enforcement officer with more than 20 years of professional experience. He currently leads the Sheriff’s Office's day-to-day operations and oversees almost 1,000 sworn and civilian employees.

Chief Deputy Henderson’s career is a testament to his leadership, which is evident in his steady ascent through the ranks since joining the Sheriff’s Office in 2002.  Chief Deputy Henderson is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Florida Leadership Academy, and the Senior Management Institute for Policing. He has previously served on the board of directors for Stewart Marchman Act and the Central Florida Domestic Security Task Force. He is classified as a subject matter expert in narcotics and dangerous drugs, where he has helped create a statewide curriculum for advanced training for the CJSTC. Chief Deputy Henderson has traveled extensively, domestically, and internationally, and he has collaborated with other law enforcement experts on a wide variety of topics. 

Chief Deputy Henderson holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is currently pursuing a master's degree from the University of Virginia. Chief Deputy Henderson is married with two sons.
