COFFEE WITH A COPY SET FOR NOVEMBER 4

In an effort to create better relationships with community members, the DeLand Police Department is inviting the public over for coffee and refreshments.

From 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, the DeLand Police Department community room will be open for the public to meet with officers for conversation, discuss concerns within the community and get to know the officers that patrol the city.

“We are committed to building relationships and creating a dialogue within our community,” said Police Chief Bill Ridgway. “What better way to do that than over a cup of coffee.”

The police department is located at 219 West Howry Avenue.

DeLand Police had originally planned its event to coincide with National Coffee with a Cop Day on October 7 but had to reschedule because of Hurricane Matthew.

For more information, please contact Officer Latisha Pasley at 386-626-7468.

National Coffee with a Cop Day is a collaborative partnership between the United States Department of Justice and the Hawthorne Police Department, which first started the concept in 2011. Since then, more than 2,000 law enforcement agencies and communities have participated in the program.
