The gunshot victim has been identified as Danny Brown, 39, of DeLand. He remains hospitalized at Halifax Health Medical Center and is in serious condition.

Detectives are following up on leads and this remains an active investigation.

POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING ON DIVISION STREET

Police are investigating a shooting that left one person in serious condition.

Officers responded about 9 p.m. to a shooting in the 200 block of West Division Street. When officers arrived at the location, they found a black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the scene said the alleged shooter, a black male, fled the scene on foot in a southbound direction. It is believed the suspect is known to the gunshot victim.

The gunshot victim was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and is listed in serious condition. Police continue to search for the suspect.
