MORE DELAND POLICE ROCKS TO BE HIDDEN

More people are soon going to be finding the DeLand Police Department rocks!

After a successful initial wave of rocks being hidden and found in Downtown DeLand, more rocks will be placed early Saturday morning in the Spring Hill community including Candlelight Oaks as well as Earl Brown Park. Special “Policia” rocks will also be hidden to reach out to the city’s Hispanic population.

“The initial response to this program has been overwhelmingly positive and I commend our officers for finding an innovative way to interact and engage with the community,” said Police Chief Bill Ridgway.

People who find the rocks are asked to call the number to redeem some cool prizes being donated through community partnerships. Also, those who find the rocks get to keep them! We ask that each person limit themselves to one rock to allow others to find one.

People who find the DeLand PD rocks are asked to email pictures to Community Information Specialist Chris Graham at grahamc@deland.org so they can be shared on the City of DeLand Facebook page.
