Two DeLand Middle School Students Were Arrested Monday Afternoon After Police Determined They Made Threats Against The School

TWO DELAND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE ARRESTED MONDAY AFTERNOON AFTER POLICE DEPTERMINE THEY MADE THREATS AGAINST THE SCHOOL

The male juveniles, whose names are not being released at this time, have each been charged with making a false report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive or weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner. 

Authorities say the two made phone calls to 9-1-1 saying they were going to shoot up the school and had a bomb.

With the help of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, authorities found the two students responsible for making the phone calls and took them into custody. The two students were present at the school at the time of their arrest.

DeLand Police and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office searched the property and it was cleared.

During the incident, DeLand Middle School was placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted.

DELAND POLICE INVESTIGATING SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT AT DELAND MIDDLE SCHOOL

DeLand Police are investigating a suspicious incident at DeLand Middle School after a threat was made against students at the school.

Police responded shortly after noon Monday to the school after a threat was made. Nobody has been injured and there is one suspect in custody.

Authorities are securing the scene and a K-9 is responding as well.
