Five People Injured In Three-Vehicle Crash

The driver who died has been identified as Kevin Mojena, 17 (DOB: 1/19/2001) of Orange City.

One of the five patients involved in yesterday’s crash on South Woodland Boulevard has died. Here is a brief summary of what investigators have been able to determine occurred:

On 6-4-2018 at approximately 1:05 PM, a white 1998 Honda two door passenger car operated by an unidentified male and traveling south in the area of the 2200 block of South Woodland Boulevard. For unknown reasons the vehicle lost control and crossed the center median of the roadway. In doing so the vehicle crashed into a blue Honda sport utility vehicle and a red Toyota sport utility vehicle that were traveling north on South Woodland Boulevard. The unidentified driver was taken to the hospital by ground where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of this crash is still under investigation. The name of the driver cannot be released at this time due to next of kin not being notified.

FIVE PEOPLE INJURED IN A THREE-VEHCILE CRASH

Five people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Woodland Boulevard.

DeLand Fire and Police responded about 1:08 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident at 2235 S. Woodland Boulevard where three vehicles collided less than a half-mile north of the intersection of Woodland and Orange Camp Road.

All three vehicles sustained heavy damage and a total of five patients were treated at the scene. Four were taken to area hospitals and one was treated and released at the scene. Of the four hospitalized, four were in stable condition and one person was in serious condition.

There were a total 10  Fire Department units from DeLand Fire Department and Volusia County with a total of 17 firefighters working the accident for approximately 30 minutes before all of the patients were transported to the hospital. Florida Highway Patrol also assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
