Ex-Boyfriend Arrested in Orlando, Charged In Her 2-Week Disappearance

A 27-year-old Deltona woman has been safely recovered and her ex-boyfriend has been arrested after he kidnapped her May 21, threatened to shoot her and her family, and confined her to an Orlando motel for two weeks.

The woman’s family had reported her missing and endangered. She was last seen May 21 and they spoke via phone on May 28.

The victim, with visible bruises on her arms and head, was recovered Tuesday at an Orlando parking lot where her captor dropped her off. She then called her parents in Deltona, who picked her up and returned home, and contacted the Volusia Sheriff’s Office just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday night, Orlando police officers located the ex-boyfriend, Victor J. Gonzalez, 21 (DOB 11/15/1998) at a Motel 6, 5900 American Way, Orlando, and arrested him on Volusia County warrants for the woman’s disappearance.

During their investigation, Volusia sheriff’s detectives learned of a history of domestic violence between Gonzalez and the victim. The family even moved to Deltona from Orlando to get away from him. A no-contact order is in place, prohibiting him from contacting the victim or her family.

Gonzalez, of Orlando, was currently on probation in Orange County for a case involving the victim. On Tuesday, a sheriff’s detective contacted Gonzalez’s probation officer, who tracked down his family members to attempt to locate him. That’s when Gonzalez got nervous and agreed to let the victim go and dropped her off before fleeing.

Upon the victim’s return home to Deltona, she was treated for her diabetic condition as she is insulin-dependent and did not have her insulin medication with her.

During interviews with detectives, the woman said Gonzalez kidnapped her because she had begun a new relationship. On May 21, Gonzalez approached her as she was walking and forced her into his car against her will. During the two-week period, Gonzalez beat her multiple times and would not allow her to leave, the victim said.

Gonzalez remains at the Orange County jail on no bond, charged with aggravated stalking, kidnapping and false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. Additional charges may be pending.
