Driver Said He Wanted To Kill Himself In Port Orange Crash

DRIVER SAID HE WANTED TO KILL HIMSELF IN PORT ORANGE CRASH

On 06/19/2017, at approximately 7:49 am, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Nova Road at Dunlawton Avenue, ran a red light and collided with several vehicles. The three occupants of the first vehicle struck were entrapped and required extrication; they were later transported to Halifax Hospital in critical condition. Charges are pending for the at fault driver, who was taken into custody under the provisions of the Baker Act. The roadway where the crash occurred was closed for several hours while the scene was processed.

Port Orange Police Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and are actively working this crash investigation.
