MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH BURGLARY OF SUNGLASS WORLD

Shortly after midnight on September 11, 2017, officers from the Port Orange Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at Sunglass World located at #410 S. Williamson Blvd. Through the use of a security system, the business owner viewed a male with a hammer looting the business and called 911. Despite Hurricane Irma’s effects being felt in Port Orange, police responded to the crime in progress.

Upon arrival, one of our K9 officers located Harold Hall (10/10/1982) inside the business. At that point, Hall refused to comply with voice commands to exit the business and proceeded to attempt to flee out the back of the building. After a short foot chase, our patrol officers placed Hall under arrest and no injuries were sustained by our officers or Hall. Hall has been charged with burglary, grand theft over $100,000, possession of burglary tools, resisting without violence, and criminal mischief with enhanced penalties due to the state of emergency.

All of the stolen property has been returned to the business owner and Hall is now in the custody of the Volusia County Branch Jail.
