POLICE INVESTIGATING POSSIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY AT THE ASHTON POINT APARTMENTS

The Port Orange Police Department is actively investigating an animal cruelty case. On September 22, 2017, Port Orange Animal Control officers were dispatched to the Ashton Point Apartments in Port Orange where a resident advised their family dog had died under suspicious circumstances. On September 26, 2017, a Port Orange Animal Control officer was again dispatched to the Ashton Point Apartments in reference to a deceased cat located in a cluster of bushes. No visible trauma was observed on the cat and the circumstances are also considered suspicious in nature.
