SEARCH FOR SUSPECT IN KONNIE’S KORNER MARKET ROBBERY

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a lone gunman who held up Konnie’s Korner Market near Daytona Beach Monday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to the store on Derbyshire Road after the robbery was reported at 8:24 a.m. An employee at the store said that the armed suspect entered the business, pointed a gun at her and demanded money. After the employee complied, the suspect fled out of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running in a northerly direction. The employee wasn’t injured and there were no customers in the store at the time.

Patrol deputies, K-9 units and a Sheriff’s Office helicopter launched a search for the suspect, but he wasn’t located. He was described as white, approximately 5’11” tall and between the ages of 40-50. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, black jacket, a red hat and sunglasses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 239-8276 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Information also can be submitted by downloading the smartphone app from the Crime Stoppers web site (http://www.westopcrime.com/). Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
