LIGHTNING STRIKES AFFECTING 911 SERVICE

Lightning strikes this morning in the vicinity of Tiger Bay Road in Daytona Beach have temporarily knocked out 911 service for some cell phone users in Volusia County. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office’s Communications Center is reporting that some AT&T Mobility customers in the immediate vicinity of the lightning strikes are unable to call 911 from their cell phones. Other carriers also may have been affected.

The Communications Center is working with AT&T to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Until the issue is resolved, cell phone users who are unable to reach 911 will need to call from a land line in order to get connected. We will advise as soon as the issue is resolved.
