UPDATED: Detectives Seeking Identity Of Deltona Robbery Suspect

Detectives have arrested 22-year-old Anthony J. Wiley of Deltona and charged him with two counts of robbery with a weapon — one charge for the April 5 incident outside Monster Pizza, and another charge for a knifepoint robbery attempt Monday in a hotel parking lot.

Detectives used video surveillance images to track him down.

In Monday’s incident, the suspect first approached a woman who was doing laundry at the Coin Laundry at 577 Deltona Blvd. He asked her for spare change, eventually getting a couple of dollars. When she left, the woman said she noticed a white car following hers as she drove to the Travel Lodge hotel. In the hotel parking lot, she said the suspect approached her while holding a small knife. She screamed, and he ran back to his car.

The detective reviewing video from that incident recognized the suspect as the same one in the Monster Pizza images, with the vehicle matching right down to the missing right front hubcap. In that robbery, the suspect approached the victim with a T-shirt wrapped around his hand, implying he had a gun, and even poked the victim with what felt like a gun barrel. He told the victim: “You know what this is - give me the cash.” The victim said the robber told him he didn’t want to do this, but he had to feed his kids.

Today, a deputy spotted the suspect vehicle (a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero) parked at 1316 Buccaneer Avenue in Deltona, and the tag came back to Wiley. Wiley was interviewed and confessed to both incidents. He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he was being held without bond tonight.

DETECTIVES SEEKING IDENTITY OF DELTONA ROBBERY SUSPECT

Detectives with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed a person last week outside a pizza shop in Deltona.

The April 5 robbery occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Monster Pizza at 1200 Deltona Blvd. The victim told detectives the suspect in the attached photos approached him, implied he had a gun and demanded money.

After the robbery, the victim said the suspect got into a white, mid-90s to early 2000s model Pontiac Grand Am with a female driver at the wheel.
