DEPUTIES SEARCHING FOR TWO WHO LEFT ADULT LIVING FACILITY NEAR DEBARY

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man and a woman who left an adult living facility near DeBary Wednesday afternoon and haven’t returned.

The facility on Shady Lane just north of DeBary contacted the Sheriff’s Office at about 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday to report 59-year-old Keith Gisel and 72-year-old Linda Romaine missing. The two left the facility at around 2 p.m., with Gisel reportedly planning to go to the bank and then a local convenience store. Gisel is confined to a wheelchair, and deputies aren’t certain where he and Romaine went or how the two were getting around. They believe they may have gotten a taxi ride, but calls to local cab companies as well as searches in the area and checks with local hospitals have failed to turn up the two. They were believed to have gone to a restaurant in DeLand at around 6 p.m., but that’s the last anyone has seen them.

Gisel is a convicted sexual predator, but is confined to a red wheelchair due to an advanced illness and isn’t considered a threat. Romaine, meanwhile, is suffering from dementia. Anyone who sees the two are asked to call 911 immediately.
