The deceased has been identified as William Patrick Leonard, 78 (DOB 8/20/1938), of Deltona, and his closest family member has been notified of his death.

MAN FOUND DEAD IN DELTONA POND

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a dead man was discovered in a pond behind a Deltona condominium complex this morning.

Deputies responded to the call behind 585 Belltower Ave. around 10:02 a.m. The caller told a dispatcher a man in his 80s or 90s was found floating in the water.

There were no immediate signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances; the Sheriff’s Office investigation is continuing. The victim’s name is not being released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
