Update: The victim’s ID is Colynn R. Mertz, age 2 (DOB 6/20/2015), of 2066 Dalton Ave., Deltona. The investigation of this case remains active, and there’s no additional information available for release at this point.

2-YEAR-OLD DROWNS IN POOL IN DELTONA

A 2-year-old boy drowned this afternoon in a swimming pool at a home in Deltona, and Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the tragic circumstances.

Deputies responded to the home at 2066 Dalton Ave. after a 3:08 p.m. 911 call about the toddler, who was unresponsive after being removed from the swimming pool. First responders were not able to revive him.
