DELTONA MAN CHARGED WITH 30 COUNTS OF POSSESSING CHILD PORN

A 43-year-old Deltona man was arrested early today on 30 counts of possession of child pornography, and Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim to call the VCSO’s Child Exploitation Unit.

Paul Elias of Collingswood Drive in Deltona was taken into custody Thursday morning, the culmination of an investigation that began Aug. 31 after sheriff’s detectives received a tip about him from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

With assistance from the Department of Homeland Security’s Cocoa Beach office, our investigation unfolded. Detectives recovered hundreds of images and videos from Elias’ electronic devices depicting children in sexual situations involving an adult male. The children appeared to range in age from less than 1 year to 12 years old.

Detectives are working to identify any child victims in Elias’ photos and videos, and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone who has any information that may bring justice for any of these victims is asked to call the VCSO’s Child Exploitation Unit at 386-254-1537.
