Man Found Dead After House Fire in Lake Helen

MAN FOUND DEAD AFTER HOUSE FIRE IN LAKE HELEN

A man was found dead inside a house after a fire today in Lake Helen, and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office detectives are conducting a death investigation.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time pending positive identification.

The fire, located in a two-story wooden home in the 1000 block of Marion Street in Lake Helen, was reported at 9:44 a.m.  A golf cart parked outside the home also caught fire and its gas tank could be heard exploding.  Two vehicles, the golf cart and a utility shed also caught fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. More information will be released when it becomes available.
