UPDATE: VCSO IDENTIFIES DELTONA VICTIM OF ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING
The Deltona resident killed Saturday in what appears to be an accidental shooting was identified as Dalton Kincaid, 26 (DOB: 9/3/1991), of 2692 Corrigan Drive, Deltona. Witnesses at the home said a roommate had just returned from shooting at a gun range Saturday. The roommate complained of a problem with his handgun. He set the weapon on a kitchen counter and watched Kincaid pick up the gun to inspect it. The roommate turned around to open the refrigerator and heard the gun fire. The roommate and two other people in the house rushed to his aid and one called 911 for help at about 5:45 p.m. The victim, who was shot in the head, died moments later. Investigators at the scene said the shooting appears to be accidental.
MAN, 26, DIES OF POSSIBLE ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING IN DELTONA
Volusia County sheriff's detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at a home in the 2600 block of Corrigan Drive in Deltona sometime before 8 p.m. Saturday. A 26-year-old male resident was reportedly inspecting a small handgun at home when he suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The victim died shortly afterward at the scene. Three friends of the victim were present in the home when the shooting occurred. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and say the incident appears to be an accidental, self-inflicted shooting. The case is currently an active investigation. More information will be released when it becomes available.
