DETECTIVES ON TRAIL OF SERIAL BURGLAR CATCH HIM WITH STOLEN TV

A suspect in a series of Deltona burglaries is behind bars after detectives spent close to 24 hours conducting surveillance on him, watching him case neighborhoods and businesses and ultimately catching him right after he broke into a business and stole a large TV.

Miguel Angel Ortiz Morales, 46 (DOB 6/16/1971), of Deltona, was arrested early Monday after shattering the front glass door at Advanced Women’s Health Specialists at 1565 Saxon Blvd. A plainclothes detective (one of two following Morales at the time) heard the sound of glass breaking, saw Morales’ car driving away and found the waiting-room TV missing from the wall.

The other detective pulled over Morales a short distance away to find a large TV in the back seat, next to a tire iron.

Morales was charged with burglary, grand theft, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief. He’s also believed to be responsible for at least three other recent residential and commercial burglaries; charges are pending in those cases, and additional charges may arise as the investigation continues.

Morales was also charged with violating an injunction for protection against domestic violence after he called the petitioner from jail around 6 a.m.
