***UPDATE***

After an initial review of the evidence collected from Richard Darby’s home, Volusia County sheriff’s detectives have reason to believe there may be child victims who live in the Volusia County/Central Florida area or beyond. Detectives have discovered material that appears to be child pornography that Darby produced himself. We’re asking for your help in spreading the word that anyone who has further information or anyone who may have been victimized should contact the VCSO Child Exploitation Unit at 386-323-3574.

BLUE SPRING STATE PARK EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH POSSESSING CHILD PORN
Bail set at $1 million

A 43-year-old park employee at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City was arrested Monday and charged with 20 counts of possessing child pornography after sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home June 29.

Richard Darby (DOB: 3/10/1975) of 339 E. French Ave., Orange City, was arrested at home Monday afternoon and charged with 20 counts of possessing photos of sexual performance by a child. He was transported to the Volusia County jail where he is being held on $1 million bail.

Detectives were alerted in late May by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which notifies law enforcement about reports of sexual exploitation of children on the Internet. During a search of Darby’s home, detectives located images of male and female children as young as 1 to 3 years old, along with adult men and women, portrayed in sexually explicit situations.

More charges are pending as detectives search for any additional potential victims of sexual exploitation. Anyone who may have been a victim of this suspect or any similar case is urged to call the Child Exploitation Unit at (386) 323-3574.
