BURGLAR BROTHERS ARRESTED; VCSO ASKING NORTH DELAND RESIDENTS TO CHECK THEIR PROPERTY

Following the Thursday afternoon arrest of two brothers on burglary charges in the north DeLand area, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is asking area residents to check their homes and garages for missing property.

The Herring brothers, Mark (DOB 9/10/1981) and John (DOB 2/1/1988), were arrested Thursday on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft and dealing in stolen property. Mark was additionally charged with providing false information to a second-hand dealer.

Detectives investigating the theft of a generator Monday from a home on Saratoga Lane in DeLand’s Brandywine neighborhood determined the Herrings were driving around Brandywine looking for open garage doors and stealing generators, lawn equipment and other items.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives have identified additional property they believe was stolen, and they’re continuing to work on identifying the owners and additional theft victims. Anyone who believes they may be a victim, or anyone who has additional information, is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-248-1777.

Photos of both suspects and their vehicle are available on VCSO’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
