VCSO DETECTIVES ARREST MAN, 34, FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORN

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 34-year-old New Smyrna Beach resident Thursday afternoon  and charged him with 11 counts of possessing child pornography after detectives executed a search warrant at his home.

Barrett Hanna (DOB 3/27/1984) of 220 N. Glencoe Road, was taken into custody in the parking lot of a DCF office in Daytona Beach. He is charged with possessing photos and videos of sexual performance of a child.  Hanna was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail and held on $110,000 bail.

Detectives were alerted in early October by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which alerts law enforcement agencies about reports of child sexual exploitation on the Internet. During the investigation, detectives located images of female children between ages 6-13 portrayed in sexually explicit situations.

More charges are possible as detectives search for any additional potential victims of sexual exploitation. Anyone who may have been a victim of this suspect or any similar case is urged to call the Child Exploitation Unit at (386) 323-3574.
