VCSO Needs Public’s Help to ID Female Suspect Linked to Car Breaks, Fraud Cases
After Car Break-Ins, Burglar Attempts to Cash Checks from Victims

Sheriff’s detectives are trying to identify a female suspect linked to several area car break-ins that occurred in west Volusia County on March 13. At least one female suspect has been spotted at local banks trying to cash checks that were stolen from victims of the car breaks.

The vehicles burglarized were found to have a smashed window in which thieves reached in, grabbed a purse or wallet and quickly moved on to the next vehicle. The car break-ins occurred during early evening hours in parking areas at:

• Valentine Park, 1595 W. French Ave., Orange City;
• Earl Brown Park and Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand;
• Chipper Jones Baseball Park , 403 S. Alabama Ave.;
• Moose Lodge, 614 S. Alabama Ave.;

Two days later, on March 15 just after 2:30 p.m., a female suspect tried to cash a check using stolen identification at the Space Coast Credit Union, 2690 Enterprise Road, Orange City. Two bank employees reported the woman, driving a newer-model white Infinity SUV, pulled up to the drive-through lane.

She provided a Florida driver’s license, Space Coast Credit Union card and a check she attempted to cash. When the employees realized the IDs belonged to someone else, they called law enforcement. The suspect became suspicious and fled the scene.

In addition, the same suspect has been using the victim’s information in fraud incidents at TD Bank branches in Winter Park and Orlando  During those incidents, the suspect was driving a Chevrolet Volt bearing FL tag #Y82RYQ (stolen tag).

Please help us identify this suspect and stop others who are opportunists looking to break into vehicles at parks, day-care centers, gyms and elsewhere. And please help yourself prevent becoming a victim of crime by always locking your vehicle, park in conspicuous areas, and never leave valuables in your vehicle., especially in plain sight. Thank you!
