DELTONA MAN ARRESTED ON 23 COUNTS OF POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

A Deltona man turned himself in Monday night on charges of possession of child pornography after a Volusia Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed his collection of downloaded photos and videos.

Nash Lee Sloan, 28 (DOB 5/13/1993), was arrested at the Volusia County Branch Jail on an open warrant charging him with 23 counts of possession of a sexual performance of a child.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began in April based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which alerts law enforcement agencies to possible sexual exploitation of children on the Internet. Detectives followed up on the tip by executing a search warrant at Sloan’s home, where they discovered even more files than were flagged in the original NCMEC tip. The children depicted in the material ranged in estimated age from 1 to 11 years old.

There were no indications of any local child victims, as the material in Sloan’s possession appeared to be downloaded from the Internet. Sloan was booked at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $230,000 bond and remained in custody Tuesday morning.
