House Fire Claims Life Of 1 Person In Deltona Home

HOUSE FIRE CLAIMS LIFE OF 1 PERSON IN DELTONA HOME

The occupant of a Deltona home that caught fire Christmas night was found deceased after firefighters put out the flames.

Deputies responded along with the Deltona Fire Department shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday to the home on Gregory Drive. The single occupant, tentatively identified as a woman in her 80s, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The victim’s identifying information is not being released at this time pending positive identification and official notification of next of kin.

The cause of the fire will be determined following a fire marshal’s investigation.

Update, 12/27/22: The deceased was positively identified as 81-year-old Carol Billings, who lived alone at the residence (1609 Gregory Drive, Deltona). The official cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal.
