FLEEING DRIVER OUT OF SEMINOLE ARRESTED AT DELTONA HOME

A driver who fled from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office was taken into custody in Deltona on Friday afternoon after SCSO notified VSO he was headed into Volusia County.

The fleeing driver eventually bailed out of his vehicle on a dirt path off Howland Boulevard.

Deputies and K-9 searched the area with SCSO's Alert One helicopter assisting overhead. The Alert One crew reported the suspect ran into the backyard of 2597 Howland Blvd. Seminole deputies were able to identify the suspect as 37-year-old Timothy Strawter (DOB 9/8/1986).

Deputies contacted the residents of the house, who were uncooperative and left the scene. Deputies remained on scene making announcements to Strawter to surrender.

Several resources including the VSO SWAT Bearcat stationed in Deltona responded to the scene to protect deputies and help bring the incident to a peaceful resolution. After several hours, Strawter came out of the house and surrendered without further incident.

A search of his vehicle revealed about 31 grams of powder cocaine and crack cocaine and a Glock handgun reported stolen out of Seminole County.

Strawter was taken into custody on VSO charges of armed trafficking in cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and grand theft of a firearm. He was also arrested on a warrant out of Georgia for violation of probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and two additional VOP warrants out of Seminole for driving with a suspended license and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.

Additional charges are pending from Seminole County SO, and Strawter is being held without bond in the Volusia County Branch Jail.
