Each year, law enforcement agencies conduct multiple operations to remind drivers that failure to yield to a pedestrian crossing the street in a marked crosswalk carries a minimum $164 ticket and 3 points on their license. Undercover deputies wear plain clothes and cross the street at a marked crosswalk, giving motorists enough time to slow down and stop. Violators may be issued citations.
